JAMES G. COCHRAN
James G. Cochran, President and CEO of J.G. Cochran Auctioneers & Associates, LTD has been in the Auction and Sales Management field for over 50 years and has managed and conducted over 15,000 auctions. Being an innovative entrepreneur, he graduated from Reppert Auction School in 1972. He started his auction business by selling farm and construction equipment along with estates. As a lifelong, respected member of the Boonsboro, Maryland community, known to his friends as Jim, his auctioneering skills, honesty and hardworking work ethic soon was recognized throughout Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
As his business continued to grow, he purchased land and began building the Auction Complex that now incorporates 86 acres, six buildings and over 46,000 sq. ft. under roof including a state of the art auction theatre for farm, heavy equipment, construction and rolling stock auctions along with another auction arena. His expertise extends to appraisals of farm and construction equipment, estates, bankruptcy, industrial equipment, commercial business, personal property and real estate.
Today, he is known throughout the mid-Atlantic region and recognized nationally since 1972.
A firm believer in continuing his education over the years, he now not only updates to improve his own education but presents seminars, speaks and judges at the Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia Auctioneer Associations annual conventions. He is a member of each of these organizations and has been a lifetime member of the National Auctioneers Association for over 20 years. Jim has won the Maryland Auctioneer of the Year award, International Advertising & Marketing Award for the National Auctioneer’s Association, along with Bid Calling Champion and Hall of Fame recipient for the Maryland Auctioneer’s Association. He also mentors new auctioneers as they come out of auction schools.
His business success is attributed to his vision and support by his family and loyal employees. His leadership, organizational skills, marketing and problem solving skills are the mainstay in keeping Cochran Auctioneers in the forefront of the industry today.
